I’ve always hated January. This is despite the fact that some of my most interesting projects and important life events have occurred in this frigid parenthesis. The self-anthologizing retrospectives characteristic of this time of year punctuate the “hurry up and wait" mentality of our industry. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy to have this time to reflect, but if you are like me and find it difficult to rest and take solace in past work accomplishments, you are stirring, creating, and planning. I hope this grey season finds you seeking new creative boundaries to bend, break, and restructure. I am humbled to participate in such a constantly evolving field, one that presses us all to look again and see things differently. It can be hard in all that movement to feel gratified by any accomplishments for much time, and maybe that’s part of what keeps us going. Happy Birthday Mom. - Bewildered to work in this field.
