“Ok, I’m Listening” “Photography is Subtractive practice,” I argue “the process of selecting subjects, and materials, from an infinite, constantly in changing universe of options in front of you. camera choice, tone choice, voice choice.” This is my refrain at the Filter photo fest portfolio review (Hi Everyone!) as I attempt to explain that “Time is things, an amalgamation of lives lead to come up to a prefect moment.” and I’m not quite sure but choices may be physical things as well. The question is the choice we give audience to. it always is tangible things being referenced. Recordable. In this field, there is a race to check boxes. perhaps this is in service to pushing the movement forward. By what measure is that choice, does it serve? is it your first choice?
