“…Would the pictures coming into such a dark room but stay there, and lie so orderly as to be found upon occasion, it would very much resemble the understanding of a man, in reference to all objects of sight, and the ideas of them.”

- John Locke

Condensation

-

In Lacanian psychoanalysis, condensation refers to the process through which multiple ideas or memories are combined into a single representation or image within the unconscious. This mechanism reveals how complex emotions and thoughts can be distilled into simpler symbols, highlighting the interplay between language and the unconscious mind. By examining these condensed representations, one can uncover hidden desires and conflicts that influence behavior and identity.

I would like my work to act as a catalyst to untwist cultural myths, challenge traditional linear expression, and decode ideologies that are interwoven into these structures.

I often use a series of site specific photo installations, utilizing various formats and repurposed technologies to create complex, sweeping, nonlinear pieces focusing on my relationship with process, contextual perspectives and indexical shift.

I make pocket universes and constructed archives in reproach to obvious facile, hierarchical thinking, and bias.

Intricacies, attitudes, and nuances, once hidden, now appear within an idea uninhibited.

In my work I am constantly examining the position and disconnect of myself as a viewer.

I indulge to satisfy an endless desire to recognize, and often misrecognize, the self mirrored back in external symbols.
